INFLUENCE OF THICKNESS OF LAYERS ANODE IN THE FATIGUE LIFE

Abstract

This paper studies the influence of the anodic coating thickness on the fatigue properties. Fatigue tests are carried out in four points bending on samples of rectangular section. The  material used is aluminum alloy high-strength AA7075- T6 subjected to a sulfuric anodizing surface treatment. The coating thicknesses were 2, 5 and 10 mm. For each type  of material were evaluated fracture curves SNP of 1%, 50% and 99% probability of fatigue fracture. The results show that with  increasing thickness  is  reduced the  dispersion of  results in  the  range  of finite  life. Referring  to  the   coating material 2 mm, the coatings 5 and 10 mm on the aluminum alloy improve the fatigue behavior in the range of finite life. Furthermore, fatigue limit increases by 11% in the alloy with 10 mm coating compared to the raw material.
