Abstract

In this research tridimensional scaffolds by electrospinning were obtained, using a poly(lactic acid)/chloroform solution. Different values of electric potential and solution concentration were studied, until the right parameters were found, and the desired morphological characteristics of the scaffolds were observed. The following parameters were thus obtained: [12,5%] m/v, 11 kV, and 13 cm (needle-collector distance). Using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), the presence of interconnected porous and sinterized network was verified, with micrometrical fiber diameters. Samples obtained under these conditions were impregnated in a chitosan solution (1%) for 3,5 min and 24 h. They were observed by SEM realizing that 24 h was the best impregnation time. . Results from standard Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), suggest that electrospinning generates molecular orientation. The predominant influence of the following parameters on the electrospinng process was confirmed: concentration of the polymer solution, voltage and distance tip-collector; in order to obtain scaffolds for biomedical applications.
