Abstract

In this work, we present the thermal characterization of homopolymers of cyclic and linear Polycaprolactone. Standard differential scanning calorimetry and isothermal crystallization were made. The crystallization and melting temperatures of cyclic PCL occurred values much higher than in linear PCL at same molecular weight, kinetics of crystallization increased with molecular weight homopolymer and with respect to linear PCL present a considerable difference. There is a significant effect on cyclic polymers, not having chain ends, its entanglements and therefore its viscosity is reduced significantly, increasing the crystallization kinetics, promoting thicker crystals.
