Abstract

The  poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) was prepared by ring-opening  polymerization initiated with samarium acetate (III) (SmAc3). The effects of molar ratio of monomer/initiator and reaction time on the yield and the molecular weight were investigated. The polymers were characterized. Kinetics studies indicated that the polymerization rate  is  first-order with respect to monomer concentration
