In this paper we present a copolymer of styrene-divinylbenzene and subsequent functionalization through a sulfonation reaction, where the incorporation of functional groups (HSO3) gives strong acidic properties, which can be used in obtaining 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) to from fructose. For the characterization of this copolymer electron microscopy and infrared spectroscopy was used, and to determine the exchange capacity of the resin a standardized NaOH solution was used. For identification and characterization of HMF, the techniques of UV / Vis, thin layer chromatography (TLC) and Infrared Spectroscopy were used.Downloads
