Journal History RLMM

The Latin American Journal of Metallurgy and Materials, RLMM (Latinamerican Journal of Metallurgy and Materials) is a scientific journal dedicated to the field of Materials Science and Engineering. The RLMM was created in 1981 in order to continuously inform researchers, professionals and students about the scientific and technological advances made in Latin America regarding the Materials Science and Engineering field. Its main interest is to publish original peer-reviewed research papers within this field (metals, polymers, ceramics, biomaterials, new materials and processes and composite materials).

Focus and Scope

(a) Regular Articles: These are free contributions by authors who wish to disclose their results in the RLMM. These articles are peer-reviewed (see Peer Review Process).

(b) Invited articles: These articles are written by recognized experts in the field. These are by invitation only.

(c) Articles published in special issues of the RLMM as Supplementary Articles, dedicated to specific conferences proceedings. These articles are peer-reviewed by an "ad hoc" committee appointed by the organizers of these events.

Peer Review Process

Articles submitted to the RLMM are handled confidentially during the review process. These submitted articles must be "original contributions", have not been published previously or currently being in the reviewing process by another journal. The submitted manuscripts are sent to a minimum of three reviewers (whose affiliation addresses are different from authors' institutions).

At the moment of uploading the manuscript, the corresponding author must also upload the Reviewer Proposal Form (see the Author Guidelines section), wich is a list of possible reviewers for the submitted article.

If the manuscript is accepted for publication in the RLMM, it must not be published in another journal in the same form or in any other language without the legal consent by the RLMM.

The Editorial Board of the RLMM will do all the necessary in order to have a reviewing phase not longer than (except in exceptional cases) six (6) months; within this period the authors will be notify of acceptance or rejection of their submitted manuscripts.

If a second peer-review phase is required (by the reviewers' recommendations), the authors will have a two (2) months (maximum) period in order to re-submit the revised version of their articles. In the case that a revised manuscript is re-submitted after the two (2) months provided, that manuscript will be considered as a new article submission.

It is necessary that the authors strictly follow the formatting instructions given in the Template in order to publish online their accepted article within three (3) months from the date of acceptance.

The Authors will receive a final acceptance email which will indicate, if possible, the volume/number where their work will be published. The Volume/Number issue will be published online prior to the printed version.
