INFLUENCIA DE LA ADICIÓN DE NANOSÍLICE EN LA CRISTALIZACIÓN Y PROPIEDADES TENSILES DE MEZCLAS 80/20 DE PP/PA6 Y PP/PC
Abstract
The effect of adding 5% of a hydrophobic nanosilica (NS) on the crystallization and tensile properties of PP and PP rich blends (80%) with polyamide 6 (PA6) or polycarbonate (PC) were studied. Upon evaluating the phase morphology of the blends by electron microscopy an "emulsifier" effect of the NS was verified since the size of the dispersed phase (PA6 or PC) was substantially reduced. The kinetics of nucleation and crystallization of the PP matrix was studied, highlighting the nucleating activity of PA6 on the PP. Finally, the tensile properties were evaluated, where NS produced a significant reduction of the deformability of all the blends as compared with pure PP. In spite of promoting a particle size reduction, a poor interfacial adhesion of blend components may be impairing the deformation of the PP matrix.Downloads
