Abstract

The performance of Ziegler-Natta catalyst in polymerization reaction is affected by the presence of active impurities and the productivity of these system decreases accordingly. the effect of three different species (namely methyl ketone, ethanol or water) on the performance of TiCl4/MgCl2/Al(CH2CH3)3 catalytic system used in the ethylene polymerization, was studied. It was found that the higher the concentration of impurities causes lower the productivity. When methyl ketone was used as a contaminant, the productivity decreased sharply.
